Books - My granddaughter gives a finished book a squeeze when its good. I'm following her example

  • THE HUNGER GAMES - By Suzanne Collins. I wrote the name in CAPS because this book gets 12 out of 10 squeezes. That's how much I liked the three book series. Excellent dystopian novels couldn't put them down and best read I've had in AGES.
  • Her Fearful Symmetry - by Audry Niffenegger. This gal wrote Time Traveler's Wife which I LOVED. This new book is equally as intriguing. Spooky, unearthly, hypnotic and not your predicatble feel good happy ending type of book. Loved it. Gave it 9 of 10 squeezes.
  • The Forgotten Garden - by Kate Morton. The cover was a painting of a cute little Cornish cottage with a walled garden. That, coupled w the title sold me on the book. Good story. Predictable ending but I enjoyed it. It gets 6 out of 10 squeezes.
  • Water For Elephants - Depressing story about circus life and nursing homes. I've read many books and thought they should make a movie of it. This wasn't one of them. But they are making a movie of it. I'll skip it.
  • Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls — Wonderful (mostly) true story of a turn of the century woman rancher/schoolteacher in Arizona. Great character, strong, independent and tells it like it is. I gave it seven out of ten squeezes. ~ Mary Catherine
  • The Help by Kathryn Stockett ~~Great peek into the whole White/Negro relationship in the deep south before and during the Civil Rights movement in the 60's. Lovely fictitious story that could very well have been true. I gave it 7 out of 10 squeezes. ~ Mary Catherine
